Microsoft has recently rolled out a new update to Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) for Windows 11. The latest update brings several new features, changes and bug fixes to WSA on Windows 11. The update is now rolling out and it carries the version number 2304.40000.3.0.
What’s new with the update
As a part of the update, the WSA has received the ability to assign memory to Android apps. This allows users to take control over how much system memory the Android app installed on Windows 11 via WSA will consume. Also, this will also let users provide more resources to an Android app to improve its performance.
Apart from this, the update also brings package verification for apps to Windows Subsystem for Android. This now scans the Android installer package (.apk files) for virus and malware using an anti-virus tool before installing it on Windows 11. This makes the WSA system more safe and more secure on the platform.
Then there’s the new Android AppLink support. This opens relevant Android app on Windows 11 when a supported link is clicked. Apart from that, the update also brings performance and reliability improvements to the Windows Subsystem for Android along with Linux Kernel version 5.15.94.
Here’s the official changelog from Github:

Microsoft is working on more features for WSA
Microsoft keeps adding new features to WSA to improve its performance and functionality on Windows 11. The company is also expected to bring new features such as file transfer support that will allow users to transfer data better Android apps and File Explorer. Another notable feature that Windows 11’s WSA is expected to get is shortcut support for faster access.
