OnePlus 12R: Key specs
The OnePlus 12R sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED 120Hz screen which combines upgraded brightness and colour levels with improved responsiveness. The phone’s display uses the new LTPO 4.0 technology which allows the smartphone to change its refresh rate for a better battery. This 10-bit display supports 2780 x 1264 resolution and 450 pixels per inch with an A+ DisplayMate rating as well as Dolby Vision and HDR 10+. The OnePlus 12R’s screen also boasts 4500 nits of peak brightness and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The OnePlus 12R is also one of the first phones ever to use its CPU to detect wetness on either the user’s fingers or the screen and react accordingly to avoid mistouches or delayed reactions.
The OnePlus 12R is powered by the in-house Trinity Engine which claims to deliver enhanced performance across the phone’s processor, memory and storage. This software is backed by the older 4nm-based flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 octa-core chipset paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage.
For camera, the OnePlus 12R houses a Sony IMX890 50MP main sensor, tuned with some proprietary OnePlus photography algorithms for better results. The smartphone also features a range of secondary camera lenses including a 112-degree ultra-wide camera, a macro camera and a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
The phone body also includes aluminium and includes a new cooling system, the Cryo-Velocity Cooling System. This system is made up of two vapour chambers, one large and one small. The small chamber absorbs heat directly from its source, such as the chipset, and evenly distributes the heat across the small chamber. The larger vapour chamber then absorbs the heat from the smaller chamber and lets it dissipate rapidly and cool down into liquid. Together these vapour chambers have a total area of 9140mm2, more than 76% bigger than the system inside OnePlus 11R. It’s also been constructed using a new type of graphite with over 1700W/mK thermal conductivity.
Apart from this, the OnePlus 12R also packs the largest-ever battery to be fitted to a OnePlus phone, weighing in at 5,500mAh. The phone also supports 100W SUPERVOOC charging that claims to fully charge the phone in just 26 minutes. The smartphone also comes with a IP64 rating, an in-displayu fingerprint sensor and an alert slider.
