Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in his first address to the nation after the dramatic arrest, unfolded the circumstances that were taken on May 9 and lambasted his successor Imran Khan for the current situation.
During his virtual address, the PTI chief claimed that he was aware of the ill intentions of Sharif’s action before reaching Islamabad High Court.
Sharing a video of the dramatic incident, Khan claimed he felt agitated when police raided his house when his wife Bushra Bibi was alone and accused Army Chief Asim Munir of granting a “deliberate” and bogus arrest warrant against her.
“All allegations are baseless”
Explaining the alleged Al-Qadir Trust corruption case against him and his wife, Khan called it the most “pious” project of his life and added all the deals were completed after several meetings of Cabinet ministers.
Notably, Khan, during his tenure promised of setting up a project meant for providing quality education in Jhelum, Punjab.
The former Prime Minister said his wife Bushra Bibi and several close aides including PTI members– Zulfiqar Bukhari and Babar Awan– were involved in the project.
According to Khan, he formed the Al-Qadir University Project Trust in which he appointed Bibi, Bukhari, and Awan as trustees as all were aware of the “religious leader after which the trust was named”. He dismissed the claims of allegedly adjusting Rs50 billion — 190 million pounds.
Further, during the address, Khan again criticised heavily the Army chief and hurled abusive words against General Munir. “Ye mulk ke logon ko c*****a samje hai kya,” he said during address.
