Google has never been too good at keeping secrets. You would find the prototype units of Pixel phones up for sale months before it gets introduced, and one of the coming ones has also shown up. Even though not for sale, pictures of the Pixel 8 Pro are surfacing on the internet, showing Google’s upcoming phone in its full glory.
According to DroidLife, photos of Google’s Pixel 8 Pro have surfaced on Reddit, allegedly posted by someone associated with Google.
On Reddit, a user named “annoyingtoread” shared that they received a new device for testing from the Google device team.
The back of the phone features a camera array similar to previous Pixel models and a sticker indicating it is for testing and evaluation purposes. Another sticker on the back reads “Zuma – B1,” which may refer to the code name of Google’s new Tensor G3 chip.
The phone is in the Fastboot Mode, revealing that the phone has 12GB of Samsung LPDDR5 DRAM, 128GB of storage, and is potentially referred to as “husky” – a previously leaked codename for the Pixel 8 Pro.
The user had personal pictures posted on their account, so another user suggested that they use a throwaway account. Also, the prototype unit had a special marker, which could allow Google to track down the person who gave away the unit to the Reddit user, or the user themselves. The original poster later deleted their account.
The Pixel 8 Pro is said to feature an upgraded camera system, featuring a 50MP Samsung main camera that allows 50% more light and a 64MP ultra-wide Sony camera, and the same 48MP 5x telephoto as its predecessor.
Unlike its predecessors, the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro, the Pixel 8 Pro is rumoured to have a flat display.
Leaks suggest that the phone will have a 5000 mAh battery, similar to the Pixel 7 Pro, with a slightly faster max charging speed of 27W (up from 23W).
The Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 are expected to launch later this year, in October presumably.
