Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has said that the club is ready to enter the market if any possibilities open up in the ongoing January transfer window. Arsenal is currently placed fourth in the Premier League table.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Arteta said Arsenal are open to the idea of entering the transfer market while insisting that they will emphasise on making the most of their squad. The likes of Oleksander Zinchenko, Jurien Timber, Fabio Viera, Thomas Partey, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Gabriel Jesus are injured for Arsenal.

“Unfortunately, Jurrien has a very long-term injury. He’s doing really well but is still far from training with the team. It’s what we have, with Tomiyasu having to leave. We’re open for the transfer market, but the emphasis is of making the most of the players we have,” said Arteta.

He went on to say that the club will move in for potential targets if any possibilities present themselves. Partey’s injury has also ruled him out of the Africa Cup of nations, starting next week.

“We’ll work with the club to understand if there are any possibilities, and whether we have any good options. But first of all, we will focus on the players we already have,” Arteta added.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for a new striker in the January window, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke emerging as potential targets for the North Londoners.

Arsenal has picked up 12 wins, four loses and four draws in 20 matches in the Premier League this season. The Gunners have scored 37 goals while conceding 20 this season.

They will now take on Crystal Palace in their next Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, January 20.
