Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt are already setting the screen on fire with their chemistry in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. While audiences can’t wait to see more of it, especially after gushing about their onscreen love in ‘Tum Kya Mile’, the actors too are eager to know how they would be reacting once the film hits theatres. With only a week away from its release, Ranveer recently opened up about reuniting with his close friend Alia and at the same time, he also couldn’t stop expressing his happiness over working with a legendary actor like Dharmendra.
Ranveer Singh recalls his first day of shooting with legendary actor Dharmendra; describes it as an ‘out-of-the-body experience’
For the unversed, Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan play the grandparents of Rocky Randhawa aka Ranveer Singh in this upcoming love story. Talking about sharing screen space with the Veeru of Sholay, Singh said, “It is such an honor to work with the stalwarts of Indian cinema.” He further went on to recall his first scene with Dharmendra on the sets of RARKPK, as he said, “On the first day we were shooting together, Dharam Sir was supposed to come. I was nervous yet excited. I was supposed to shoot an interactive scene with Dharam Sir where we were supposed to be talking to each other face-to-face. That day morning, when I reached the sets, I asked the ADs to inform me when Dharam Sir arrives on sets because I wanted to greet him personally on his first day of shoot.”
He continued, “But somehow, nothing worked according to plan. Dharam Sir had already reached the sets and when I got to know about it, I got ready to leave in a rush. When I reached there, I realized there is no time for doing much. I greeted Dharam Sir, touched his feet and hugged him. Then directly I dived into the scene, took instructions from Karan (Johar) and our DOP Manush regarding the shot and soon, the time for the first shot had arrived. I was rehearsing and I realized Dharam Sir was just sitting there. It was at that time that realization dawned upon me that I was actually sharing screen space with ‘the Dharmendra’. I was acting with him in the same film as him. I cannot explain what I felt at that moment but I think it was almost like an out-of-body experience.”
The actor also went on to express gratitude for receiving opportunities to share screen space with some of the biggest stars in the industry. “This has happened several times in the past when I was shooting with Anil Kapoor, Govinda, Ajay Devgn. It has been a great honour and privilege for me to share screen space with such senior artists who I have admired growing up and who have inspired me to become the artist I am today. I feel extremely fulfilled,” he added.
Talking about Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, the film is directed by Karan Johar and it is slated for release on July 28.
