India captain Rohit Sharma arrived in a grand fashion in Dharamshala days before the start of the fifth and final Test against England at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. While India’s final international assignment before the start of the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to get underway on March 7, Rohit was seen landing in Dharamasala in a helicopter.

The rest of Rohit’s India teammates had arrived on Sunday (March 3) but the Indian skipper joins them on Tuesday. He also attended an event with the Union Minister of Sports And Youth Affairs Anurag Thakur in Bilaspur where he played cricket with his fans.

IND vs ENG Test Series Already Decided But WTC Points Up For Grabs

Talking about the series, the result of the final match won’t make much of an impact as far as the result of the series is considered as the hosts have already taken an unassialable 3-1 lead in the five-match arrangement. Having said that, there will be World Test Championship (WTC) points up for grabs which will have a role to play in deciding who gets to compete in the titular contest of the 2023-25 cycle.

The final match of the series will also be Ravichandran Ashwin and Jonny Bairstow’s 100th Test matches. This will only be the fourth instance of two players playing their 100th Tests together. The first such instance was when Michael Atherton and Alec Stewart achieved the milestone while stepping out for England against West Indies at Old Trafford back in 2000.

In the second such occasion, it was not even two but three players playing their 100th Test match together with South Africa’s Jacques Kallis, Shaun Pollock and New Zealand’s Stephen Fleming all reaching the milestone in the South Africa vs New Zealand fixture in Centurion in 2006. Other than these two instances, England’s Alastair Cook and Australia’s Michael Clarke also played their 100th Test together in Ashes 2013.
