Samsung is reportedly working on two new camera features, especially for foldable smartphones. SamMobile has reported that the company has applied for two new trademarks that have the Flex moniker. According to the report, the company is working on two new camera modes named FlexShot and FlexSnap.
The trademark has been filed at the UK Intellectual Property Office. It is possible that the two new camera modes will debut on Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 with the One UI 6 update in future.
This means, the features are in development and Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 won’t offer this out of the box.
Also, the information about these two camera modes is limited to the Flex moniker. What we mean is that Samsung uses the Flex moniker for things that are related to foldable devices. For instance, the Flex Window, Flex hinge, FlexCam and so on. The new FlexShot and FlexSnap appear to be a part of it. The only issue here is that it’s not known what exactly they do.
Looking at the names, the FlexSnap resembles something similar to Snapchat. It is possible that this mode may bring Snapchat integration via the front cover display. Or it could be something else.
The other one – FlexShot is literally new and we currently have no information on what it does. That said, the information about these two more is extremely slim. We advise you to take this with a pinch of salt.
For those unaware, Samsung is working on One UI 6 which is set to bring several new improvements in terms of UI and features. As per recent information, the company is planning to integrate a new gesture navigation from the top right corner of the phone to access quick settings. In addition, One UI 6 is also set to bring the Android 14 operating system.
