England and Australia are currently squaring off in 1st Test of the five-match ENG vs AUS Ashes 2023 Test series at Birmingham’s Edgbaston cricket stadium. Whichever team wins will have the curial 1-0 lead in the series. Australia got England all out on 273 in their second innings with Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon picking four wickets apiece. In reply to this, Australia were 107/3 at Stumps on Day 4 with Usman Khwaja, just like their 1st innings, holding the fort at one end. On the final day, Australia require 174 more runs with 7 wickets remaining to win Ashes 2023 1st Test. A bit of a rain is expected on Day 5. The match in evenly poised at the moment with all results possible.
Fans in England are known for making lives of visiting team miserable with their antics and they made sure to continue the tradition in Ashes 2023. Several videos have gone viral on social media, showcasing how crowd in Edgbaston mocked Australia’s Steven Smith and David Warner, who were involved in the infamous Newlands ball-tampering scandal in 2018.
On Day 4, England crowd mocked Steven Smith by chanting ‘We saw you cry on telly’, citing a press conference from March 2018 during which the premier Aussie batter broke down in tears while interacting with the press upon landing from South Africa.

Both Warner and Smith were handed a year-long ban after being found guilty.
There’s now doubt about how good Smith is as a batter in Tests. The premier Aussie batter has so far scored 31 tons in Tests and averages 59.39 in the longest format. Surprisingly, Smith struggles to score runs 4th innings. He has scored only 596 runs in 76 matches at an average of 28.83 while batting in the 4th innings.
On day 4 of ongoing Ashes 2023 1st Test, Smith was dismissed for just 6 runs off 13 balls i.e. in the 4th innings.
