Maidaan, which released after much delay, has opened up to rave reviews not only among audiences but also among industry insiders. Many celebrities took to social media to rave about the performances in the film and the few, who have been unable to catch up on the film, have expressed their desire to watch it after they received a lot of great comments for the Ajay Devgn starrer. Now joining the list of admirers is Kabir Singh aka Shahid Kapoor who reviewed the film after watching it recently.

While Shahid Kapoor rarely opens up about films he has watched, it seems that the actor took out time to catch up on this patriotic sports drama and shared his thoughts on it social media. Taking to his Instagram story, he shared a poster of Maidaan and wrote about it saying, “Really enjoyed watching Maidaan today. Such a well made well performed film. Go watch it guys. This is a genuine candid post you all. Good films deserve to be seen. All the best to the entire team.” Apart from him, celebrities like Javed Akhtar too have lauded the movie, whereas celebs like Karan Johar and Varun Dhawan have shared their excitement about watching the film soon.
Speaking about the film Maidaan, the film traces the journey of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim who was instrumental in placing India as one of the key football teams globally in the world championship and Olympic Games. Set in the post-Independence era between the 50s and 60s, the sports drama is a biopic featuring an ensemble cast along with actors like Priyamani and Gajaraj Rao essaying key roles. The film, produced by Boney Kapoor, released in theatres on April 10.
