Young India all-rounder Shivam Dube was elated after being honored with the prestigious ‘Man of the Series’ award following India’s 3-0 series win over Afghanistan.

IND vs AFG, 3rd T20I Highlights

Dube’s remarkable innings included a 60-run knock off 40 balls at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, followed by an unbeaten 63 off just 32 balls that played a pivotal role in India’s victory. Dube’s all-around capabilities shone through as he amassed a total of 124 runs and took two crucial wickets over the series.

The elation was palpable as Dube expressed his joy during the post-match presentation. “Definitely a wonderful series, you dream of winning this award as an allrounder, happy to have achieved it,” he said, reflecting on the significance of the accolade ahead of the T20 World Cup in 2024. Despite the pressure of a potential Super Over, Dube highlighted the intense competition and sportsmanship displayed by both teams.

Dube’s contributions were not limited to his batting prowess; he also took the opportunity to hone his bowling skills throughout the matches. “There are many aspects to work on, got to bowl in these three matches, I’ve learnt many things,” he acknowledged, indicating his commitment to improving his all-round game. His dedication and hard work paid off, making the series against Afghanistan a memorable one for him and setting a high bar for his future performances.

Dube has staged an impressive resurgence in his international career following a lackluster beginning. He has asserted his presence convincingly, showcasing consistent form with back-to-back half-centuries in the current home T20I series against Afghanistan.

Dube has actively contributed with the ball in both encounters against Afghanistan, securing two crucial wickets. Notably, he was entrusted with the challenging task of bowling the penultimate over in the second T20I in Indore, navigating tough conditions for bowlers.

His commendable bowling form is not a recent development, as evidenced by his noteworthy performances before the T20I series. In Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy opener against Bihar in Patna, he impressively recorded figures of 2-13 and 4-10, showcasing his bowling prowess before entering the T20 international arena.
