NEW DELHI: A small plane crashed on Interstate 75 in Naples, Florida, on Friday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of at least two individuals, as confirmed by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office to Fox News Digital.
The aircraft, a Bombardier Challenger 600 business jet, was carrying a total of five people, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).The conditions of the remaining individuals on board are currently unknown, reports Fox News.
The flight had departed from Ohio State University Airport at approximately 1 pm ET, as reported by FOX 35. At around 3 pm ET, the pilot made an emergency landing request at Naples Airport after both engines of the plane failed.
As the aircraft descended, it collided with a vehicle on the freeway, resulting in the fatalities of the two individuals on board. The Florida Highway Patrol issued a traffic alert, stating that the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 75 were affected, with the southbound lanes being completely closed.
Emergency response teams swiftly arrived at the scene, and the FAA, along with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), will be conducting an investigation into the crash.
