Threads: Here’s what Twitter CEO has to say on Instagram’s Threads – Times of India

Twitter is facing a challenge from Instagram‘s Threads and the app has seen millions signup on the launch day. Amid the buzz, Twitter’s new CEO Linda Yaccarino has shared a tweet in which she appears to take a dig at the new Meta-owned social media platform.
“On Twitter, everyone’s voice matters. Whether you’re here to watch history unfold, discover REAL-TIME information all over the world, share your opinions, or learn about others — on Twitter YOU can be real,” she tweeted.
“YOU built the Twitter community. And that’s irreplaceable. This is your public square,” the CEO said, adding, “We’re often imitated — but the Twitter community can never be duplicated.”‘Can’t underestimate Twitter’
Yaccarino’s tweet came after Instagram head Adam Mosseri mentioned that Twitter has a strong user base and network. It is to be noted that despite what has happened at the company for the last few months, people still go to the microblogging platform to get real-time information.
Mosseri said it would be a mistake to underestimate both Twitter and the company owner Elon Musk. “Twitter has got a lot of history; it has an incredibly strong and vibrant community on it. The network effects are incredibly strong,” he said.
Mosseri said that Twitter’s “volatility” and “unpredictability” under Musk provided an opportunity for the company to develop Threads.

“Obviously, Twitter pioneered the space. And there are a lot of good offerings out there for public conversations. But just given everything that was going on, we thought there was an opportunity to build something that was open and something that was good for the community that was already using Instagram,” The Verge quoted Mosseri as saying.
Zuckerberg pokes fun at Threads
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also tweeted – first since 2012 – an image of an identical spider facing off. Musk was quick to reply. Meta, in the past, took potshots at Twitter by saying that Threads will be a “sanely run” version of Twitter.
