It has been over 12 years now since Tim Cook took charge as Apple CEO. Under his reign, Applehas become one of the most valuable companies in the world and launched several new innovative products and services. Back then, Cook had said that he will be in the role for 10 years and that deadline has obviously passed. Cook was asked in an interview about Apple’s succession plans and whether the company has identified his successors.In an interview with BBC podcastDua Lipa: At Your Service, Cook said that Apple is a company that believes in working on succession plans “so we have very detailed succession plans,” he said in the interview. He said that’s because “something that’s unpredictable can always happen.”
When asked whether he could share some possible names of his successors but declined to do so. “But I would say my job is to prepare several people for the ability to succeed,” he said. He also emphasised that he wants the next Apple CEO to “from within Apple.” “My role is to make sure that there’s several for the board to pick from,” he explained.


Cook will be at Apple “for a while”

During the podcast, Lipa asked the Apple CEO if he would still be working at Apple in 2050 more in regard to see how Apple’s environmental initiatives are having an impact. “2050 might be a stretch,” he said. He also didn’t give any timeline on how long he plans to continue in his role. “I don’t know how long I’ll be there.”
Cook also said that he can’t imagine his life without working at Apple. “I love it there and I can’t envision my life without being there,” he added. “And so I’ll be there for a while,” he told Lipa during the interview.
