Despite the scare that landed the 18-year-old son of the NBA‘s leading scorer in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s intensive care unit on Monday, he showed incredible progress and determination. He was released from the medical center on Thursday.
“GRAND RISING!! God Is Great!” LeBron James said in a video posted to Instagram. “YOU ARE AMAZING!!! Simple as that!… We’re here right with you every step of the way!”
In a brief video, LeBron James affectionately described his eldest son as a “man of many talents.”
LeBron James, renowned for his stellar basketball career with the Los Angeles Lakers and being hailed as one of the greatest players of all time, has openly expressed his desire to share the NBA court with his son before he concludes his own remarkable journey in the sport.
The heart scare for Bronny occurred approximately a year after USC center Vince Iwuchukwu collapsed during practice due to heart failure. Thanks to the swift response of the team’s medical staff, Iwuchukwu was revived and managed to play in the subsequent season after making a successful recovery.
This event also brings to mind a similar occurrence in January, when Buffalo Bills’ safety Damar Hamlin experienced a cardiac arrest during a Monday night NFL game in Cincinnati. Prompt life-saving CPR on the field, witnessed by a packed stadium and TV viewers, saved Hamlin’s life and he has since been on the path to recovery.
While there is no specific update from doctors regarding when or if Bronny will make a return to the basketball court, they have expressed optimism about his encouraging progress in recovery so far.
