NEW DELHI: Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was left in awe of Andre Russell‘s stellar all-round performance during KKR’s opening match of IPL 2024 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. His admiration for Russell was evident as he showered his praise after the match.
Russell unleashed his fury with an unbeaten 25-ball 64, featuring seven towering sixes and three fours to propel KKR to a massive 208/7.He then went on to take two crucial wickets as KKR pulled off a narrow four-run victory over SRH on Saturday.
During the victory lap around the ground to greet and thank the fans, the Bollywood superstar took a pause and intervened Russell during an interview to warmly embrace him for his match-winning efforts.

The right-handed Russell also completed 200 sixes in the IPL in 97 innings, becoming the ninth batter overall to achieve the feat in the tournament’s history.
West Indies legend Chris Gayle sits atop the list with 357 sixes to his name in 141 innings followed by Rohit Sharma (257 sixes in 238 innings) and AB de Villiers (251 sixes in 170 innings).
Russell took on Markande with a flurry of powerful shots, sending the SRH leg-spinner deep into the stands with three sixes in just five balls.
He was in no mood to spare Bhuvneshwar Kumar, as in the 19th over, the pacer was smoked for two fours and two sixes, 26 runs in total.
