Shubman Gill’s dance moves encapsulated the spirit in the Indian camp on Day 1 of their first Test match against West Indies. During the first day of play between India and the West Indies, cameras spotted Indian batter Shubman Gill dancing on the pitch and his dancing video quickly went viral as India bowled out the hosts for 150.

Star Indian off-spinner Ashwin led the way for Team India with a five-wicket haul as the visitors knocked out West Indies before reaching 80/0 at stumps. After being dropped out of the XI for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, Ashwin made an incredible comeback, taking 5-60 off 24.3 overs to leave Windies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite questioning his decision to bat first after winning the toss. The other spinner  Ravindra Jadeja was India’s second most successful bowler, taking three wickets to assist Ashwin.

Gill put on his dance shoes before the first ball of the 64th over. He was seen enjoying himself on the field as India established their complete dominance over the West Indies.

Following the West Indies’ dismissal for a low total, Yashasvi Jaiswal, one of two Indian debutants, partnered Rohit Sharma in an unbroken opening stand against a diverse bowling assault.

Jaiswal was on 40 at stumps, with  the Indian skipper on 30 and a highly seasoned and confident batting line-up to follow.

“There was a bit of moisture on the pitch early on but it started to turn a bit more as the day went on, even though it was quite slow,” Ashwin deliberated upon his performance, as it was his 33rd five-wicket innings haul in Tests.

“International cricket is all about adapting, trying to seek excellence and trying to improve all the time,” he added.
