Meta-owned messaging app WhatsApp consistently adds new features to enhance its users’ overall experience on the platform. Earlier this year it was reported that WhatsApp is working on the feature to edit sent messages. Now the app has reportedly started rolling out the feature for beta testers.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has started releasing the feature to edit sent messages for beta testers on WhatsApp Web. The report reveals that the ‘edit messages’ feature is available under the menu options for a text message. “When you select this option, you will be prompted to edit the message within a new window. In case the feature is enabled for your WhatsApp account, you have up to 15 minutes to edit your messages in your chats and groups, and it is possible to edit messages multiple times,” mentions the report.
“The limit to edit messages has been set to maintain the authenticity of the conversation so that users cannot completely change the message after a long time, as this feature is a tool that should only be used to correct typing errors,” added the report.
The ability to edit messages is available to some beta testers that joined the official beta program of WhatsApp Web and is expected to be available for all the users in the coming weeks.
WhatsApp on Android to soon get this iOS feature
WhatsApp is preparing to introduce an iOS feature to Android. As per a report by WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned platform might soon roll out a new feature that will highlight missed call names in red within the calls tab. This update is intended to help users easily identify missed calls by making their names stand out in red. The feature is currently in testing and is only available to beta testers. Nonetheless, it is expected that the feature will soon be released to Android users.
