NEW DELHI: Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins on Friday made a big statement on Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni, praising his unparalleled fan base. Cummins acknowledged Dhoni’s enduring impact on the game, highlighting his invaluable contributions to cricket both on and off the field.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad was filled with excitement as the legendary MS Dhoni stepped onto the field for his second batting appearance in IPL 2024.
Despite facing just two deliveries and scoring only 1 run, the crowd erupted into thunderous applause, relishing the opportunity to witness their icon in action.

“Different soil. Slowed up a little bit as the game went on. Shivam was hitting it well against the spin. Thought we’ll take chance with off-cutters. First thing is always to get the points,” Cummins said at the post-match presentation.
“Wouldn’t want to be bowling to him (Abhishek) and Trav Head at the top. Crowd was crazy tonight. When MS walked out, it was as loud as I’ve ever heard,” Cummins added.
In contrast to CSK’s previous showdown against the Delhi Capitals, where MS Dhoni enthralled the Vizag crowd with a quick cameo of 37 runs off just 16 balls, the former CSK skipper came the middle with only three balls remaining in the innings.
