Former India great Sachin Tendulkar applauded Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored his maiden Test century in his debut game against West Indies. In the ongoing Test series between India and West Indies, Jaiswal reached to his hundred on the Day 2 of the first Test on Thursday at Windsor Park Dominica.
Jaiswal was also involved in India’s 229-run opening stand with skipper Rohit Sharma, the first time in Test history that India took the lead in the first innings without losing a wicket. West Indies could only manage 150 in their first innings.
Sachin took his Twitter handle to praise the young batter for his first century.

Jaiswal is unbeaten on 143 runs off 350 balls as he batted for the entire Day 2 on his Test debut. Post getting a century, the Mumbai based batter also became the seventeenth Indian batter to score a hundred on Test debut. He also became the fourteenth Indian batter to get to the three figures mark in his debut innings in the Red ball format.
“I think this is one of the emotional knock for me, it’s difficult to get opportunities in the Indian team, I would like to thank everyone, the supporters, team management and Rohit Bhai,” Jaiswal told the broadcasters after Stumps on Day 2 of IND vs WI 1st Test.
Moments after he reached the milestone, he joined an elite group of cricketers, including Deepak Shodhan, AG Kripal Singh, Hanumant Singh, Surinder Amarnath, Mohammad Azharuddin, Pravin Amre, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer who also scored a hundred in maiden Test innings.
