How will the feature work
It will work with Duet AI and will allow you to miss the meeting and let AI join the meeting on your behalf, delivering your message and ensuring you get the recap. As seen in the screenshots shared by Google, users will see an “Attend for me” option which will allow Duet AI to take notes.
When a user receives a Google Calendar invite for a meeting, there will be a new AI button right next to the Yes or No option. It’s not as if others will not know that you aren’t a part of the meeting. A “help me write” feature will add notes that other attendees will be able to see. Others will be able to see who is attending the meeting using Duet AI. So users will be able to see the notes that you have prepared for the meeting allowing you to be a part of the meeting without actually being there.
Other features coming to Meet
Furthermore, Duet AI can capture notes, action items, and video snippets in real-time with the new “take notes for me” feature and it will send a summary to attendees after the meeting. “It can even help get latecomers up to speed with “summary so far,” which gives a quick snapshot of everything they’ve missed,” said Pappu.
Google is rolling out dynamic tiles and face detection that give attendees in a meeting room their own video tile with their name.
“We’re also launching automatic translated captions for 18 languages; Meet will automatically detect when another language is spoken and display the translation in real-time,” said Pappu in the blog post.
