Former cricketer Irfan Pathan poured out his emotions in a social media post following the Trinamool Congress’ (TMC) announcement of his brother, Yusuf Pathan, venturing into electoral politics. Irfan lauded Yusuf’s virtues of patience and kindness, while outlinung Yusuf’s commitment to serving the people even without an official title.
Expressing a sense of pride, Irfan Pathan took to social media on Sunday to share his heartfelt sentiments after the Trinamool Congress revealed that his brother, Yusuf Pathan, would be their Lok Sabha candidate for the Baharampur seat in Murshidabad district.
“Your patience, kindness, help to the needy and service to people even without an official position can be easily noticed. I am confident that once you step into a political role, you will truly make a difference in the daily lives of people @iamyusufpathan,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Known for their humble beginnings, both Yusuf and Irfan Pathan have made notable contributions to international cricket for India with both the brothers being part of India’s2007 T20 World Cup-winning side. Yusuf was even part of the side that won the ODI World Cup in 2011.
Yusuf Pathan’s political debut will see him contesting from the Baharampur seat, currently held by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. Notably, the Congress party is yet to announce its candidate for this constituency, setting the stage for an intriguing electoral battle.
Irfan Pathan Was Pundit On Star Sports In IPL 2023
After his cricketing career, Irfan has made a name for himself as a commentator and was even one of the pundits for Star Sports in IPL 2023. With the IPL set to commence on IPL 2024, it would be interesting to see if he will continue to be calling the game for the Broadcast network this season.
